Großmarkt Köln

Germany 2024/25 · Series of Photographes / Photobook

The Großmarkt Köln, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, was one of the largest wholesale markets in Germany. After years of protests, negotiations, and failed relocation plans, the Cologne City Council decided on October 1, 2024, to permanently close the market on Bonner Straße at the end of 2025. This photographic work shows the wholesale market grounds with its hall and surrounding market buildings, as well as a number of businesses, traders, and workers in 2024 and 2025. The book shown in the video is a dummy and has not yet been published.
