Just as the video installation Match, the works carrying the title Fight for your right are based on amateur videos from the hooligan scene. The first part of the work, Fight for your right Vol. 1 presents itself in the shape of a large image block (236 x 220 cm), consisting of 11 rows, each with 8 fixed images. Violent riots from hooligans at international football matches are shown. Even though the video style unmistakably uses media images, the nature of the photos frequently remind one of paintings, whereas especially contemporary paintings orientate themselves with the aesthetics or “look” of the world of media images.

| Wie auch die Videoinstallation Match, basieren die Arbeiten unter dem Titel Fight for your right auf Amateurvideos aus der Hooligan-Szene. Der erste Teil der Arbeit, Fight for your right Vol. 1, präsentiert sich in Form eines großen Bilderblocks, der aus 11 Reihen mit jeweils 8 Bildern besteht und eine Größe von 236 x 220 cm hat. Zu sehen sind gewaltsame Ausschreitungen von Hooligans bei internationalen Fußballländerspielen. Auch wenn es sich bei diesen Videostills unverkennbar um Medienbilder handelt, erinnert die Beschaffenheit der Aufnahmen vielfach an Malerei, wogegen sich ja gerade die zeitgenössische Malerei wiederum vielfach an der Ästhetik, am „Look“ der Medienbildwelt orientiert. |
